SingaporeMacross SG I suddenly had this idea. If the government can catch errant bloggers, how do they track them down in the first place?
CoolMyth SG Someone made a formal complaint, either to police post or station, I think. The government is not that eng to go and check this. Only when someone made a complaint, then they step in.
winbob SG ya... as to how they track down the fellow.. I think its thru your URL address.. you know those... e.g 246.125.83.25.. every internet user has it own address.. the only thing is that it is VERY time consuming to track down who this address belong to. first they find out who is the service provider..( Starhub, Singnet or Pacific) I think they are obligated to help provide the info to the police by law ..then thru their help.. track down who is using.. Thats why regardless whether the person has violated via emails or blogging..it is still not a problem to track them down.. Any one please correct me???
SingaporeMacross SG I think it's the IP address, not URL address. Wait, what if I blog from a lan shop?
CoolMyth SG I don't go LAN shops but I thought they will take down some of your particulars for record keeping when you use their comps? From there lor, I guess. Once police get official documents, they can demand information from ISPs with just the IP.
CoolMyth SG A name and some other form of particular, like address, hp no etc can be enough already. With a name, it is possible to find out something about the person. What more if you're talking about the police with official powers?
CoolMyth SG Don't be cock lah.... You think your friends won't betray you to save themselves? Siao....
starblue SG so scared then dun post anything Asholic lah... ping shi bu zuo kui xin shi ban ye qiao men ye bu pa...
