I am given chlordiazepoxide and/or amitriptyline
those should be quite alright. I guess your GP gave you
these because they are non addictive.
amitriptyline is actually an anti-depressant. Now
psychatrists don't use this for depressed patients anymore.
Instead, GP prescribe this to prevent recurrence of
migraine.
Let the doc know you are not going to take sleeping pills long
time. Only short term to adjust your sleep or for the time
being. Then maybe the GP will prescribe you the real sleeping
pill. Don't go to polyclinic.
But then, sleeping pills, no doubts can make you sleep, but you
won't feel rested. They simply knock you out, but your brain
is still active.
