Hi forummers,
ST forum page dated 27th January 2010 has a letter from Dy
Director (Branch Operations) of HDB using the term 'flat
owners' to describe flat lease holders.
I like to clarify is the term appropriate given:
1. Who owns the Flat? Who really owns the flat? Can you be the
owner of the flat if someone or something owns the flat?
2. Can you own a flat if you are leasing it as in you are own a
piece of lease certificate for the flat?
While many have somehow accepted that flat owners = flat lease
holders, i feel that there is a need to clarify on this officially
for the people of singapore.
To me, at least, i do not own my flat. I am leasing from HDB. To
me, HDB owns the flat.
what say you?
