well, Golf GT 1.4l 170bhp 0-100 in 7.9 = 100000 + k? why not get a mitsubishi colt ralliart turbo version r? 1.5l DOHC MIVEC 154bhp, the CVT version 0-100 in 8.0? its costs ard 30000k less than the GT, acceleration is extremely fast, handling is superb and if u wan a faster version r get the manual with 0-100 in 7.4s? i own the version r and frankly speaking i am very happy with my car. well if u r some 1 who wants a better build, quality materials and has a deeper pocket, then go for the golf gt, but if u wan the same performance at a lower price, go for the version R!

btw, DC5 type r 0-100 is close to a flat 6s. that is correct but it is a different class altogether from WRX or EVO cos DC5 is a FWD, NA and basically built as a track car whereas a WRX or EVO is AWD, turbo charged and basically a rally car. All 3 are classic sports japanese cars which are extremely fast and is good in their own ways.

the real race car built by Honda is actually the NSX-R.. which 1 new version r coming up soon!

IMO, for the $$, u get get faster vehicle..

On rd, 7.5s DRIVEN OUT TIMING vehicle is already quite fast..

Integra typr R(not the type s) is driven out 6+s>worst at low 7s.

Type S is bout 7.7-8.5s driven out...

The golf gt drive out i personelly fell so so only..went for test drive.

The new civic typr r my friend jus took in, still running in, to 3000 rpm...power wise still lose his old modded ignis sport...

Will try to update after he run in finish..pull till 8300 see how fast tested in real world.

Using NA VS TC/SC is different ah... but timing is bout there...

From wat i can tell, stock wrx VS stock interga R, wrx lose.. driver may be a issue, but the turbo lag is there..cos i drive 1..loler....

Bro...you sure the handling of the CVR can match the Golf GT? I pitted once with a Golf GT as well as a CVR on SIC. I think apart from the straights, the handling are worlds apart. The CVR does not corner too well while i must say i was impressed with the GT.

the fact is golf gt is not fast at all. doing 0-100 like a sir only.
but let u say till like really very fast.
the other "fact" of URS is dc5r doing 7.5s, can never outrun a stock wrx on drag.

pls lah go to integra webbie and check the ans lah. u go in and tell them dc5r doing 7.5, everyone will be rdy to show u how they do low or flat 6s.
anything over 7s is driver fucck up.
and than go subaru ask them stock dc5r and stock wrx, which 1 faster on drag.

haiz... primary sch kidszzzz erm dont come & argue with me again till u can find a 7.5s dc5r, or a stock rex that can outrun a stock dc5r.

please read carefully u blind arse... what i was doing merely was to suggest that the golf gt can be on par with the dc5 and u shot down the golf gt based on ur assumptions after looking at max figures.. clearly u do not understand the workings of the golf gf engine.. and cant infer from the power-torque graph....

stop arguing and lets get some facts straight

1st of all a stock dc5 does flat 6. tat is true. The new honda civic type r JDM version can do 5.9s as stated in the latest EVO car mag. honda type rs are engineering feats.. 2 L engines 4 cylinder which can give timings comparable to turbo charged rivals.

a stock WRX can do roughly the under the same timing with the help of the turbo. Its 4WD which helps in handling and cornering but a WRX costs 80000+ now while a civic type r costs a whopping 20k more..

civic type r plays on vtec which comes on above 5200 rpm while wrx relies on forced induction...

lets not argue...
both cars r good seriously..
while a golf GTI makes 6.9s, still fast while still a step slower than these 2 jap monsters, its handing is good and has been the bench mark for hatchbacks. ( forget abt the UK civic type r, the REAL civic type r is the JDM 1).

Honda Type Rs have relatively low torque figures though.. I guess if one is looking for a pure performance machine, for the same price, a WRX STi would be a far better buy.
