Ho ho... well, if you want to put it that way, also as evident
from her roles in recent Hollywood movies, Bellucci's beauty -- a
gift -- is also a curse. 
Her beauty aside, however, she really is quite a credible actress, or she
wouldn't have been given the leading role in some of her films. One
would believe some hearts went out to her character in "Malèna"
during the mob scene, and not many actresses today would be able to
do the gut-wrenching "Irréversible " underpass scene in one single
nine-minute take.
Sometimes, actresses who are too pretty have to uglify themselves
to a certain extent, in order to get the audience to focus on their
characters, their acting, instead of their looks. Kidman did so in
"The Hours", Berry also in "Monster's Ball", and Theron certainly
made people sit up in "Monster". (All three won acting honours for
their sacrifices, incidentally).
