Singapore cracks down on anime piracy

Tis strange to clamp down so hard on the downloaders when the source of most unofficial fansubs are derived from capture of free-to-air broadcasts. It's a...

LJ, what about that one about the car racing? Laughing

ryangian SG

But have they thought of why the fansubb employee gave lousy work Question

My guess is that they are not paid enough for the work that they have done and so the results is those poor quality anime they produced Neutral Neutral

Again another LPPL matter, XEDO want quality stuff but not willing to give the $$$ for it or its just our local fansubbers not good enough Question

Hope we can get some 1 who works for them to clarify this matter Exclamation

stellazio SG

ya probably give them 5 dollars per hour. Laughing

What I want to know is WHO are the people in those so-called focus groups and specifically what DVDs were compared.

Without this information xedo's claims are meaningless.

storywolf SG

Yep just their way of saying - some one we are directors but did not know what they are directing , some poor guy took the blame for us - we quickly closed shop, left the poor guy to die ... then we open operations but new name what !!!

Again we directing = do not know what we directing ...

Is VOD free? Didn't the website mention $2 per episode and last for 7 days?

If 1 episode for $2 for 7 days, I might as well rent the series from my nearby video retailer for $6 per box and then burn it. That's more worth it isn't it since I can watch unlimited times?

That is if I were to rent it Laughing

Edited: Sorry, made a mistake, its $2 per episode for 7 days Confused . I think my method is more worth it liao. Twisted Evil

Kewl. Obviously NKF didn't teach them.

Wait, they are not a charity organization. Rolling Eyes

And ODEX makes it sound like they bribe Singnet. GG. Laughing

Here's another question:

What kind of idiot pays for VOD that takes a while to download, is not of very good quality, and yet cannot be viewed after 7 days.

At least when I pay to watch a movie, I get the big screen and big speakers/surround sound.

And when I buy a pay-per-view on cable, I can record the show for future viewing.

Say I watch an anime like Bleach on VOD, I end up paying $1 or $2 x ..what, 200 episodes? And I cannot watch it again unless I pay somemore.

*scratches head*

av98m SG

I do another cost breakdown

My complete Outlaw Star Region 1 DVDs cost me, including shipping, about 80sgd(rounded up)

There are 6 DVDs with a total of 26 episodes.

Now, lets see how much I'd have to pay if Odex launches a VOD version of it, with poorer subtitles and poorer image quality(at most 640 x 480 resolution, watchable only on a PC)

$26 x 2 = $52

For $30 less, I get much poorer picture quality, inability to watch it via DVD player on a home theater setup with big screen, no physical media/packaging, and no way to watch it again when I feel like it.

Gee.

ryangian SG

What ever damage control measure ODEX is doing now is pointless, once ppl hear the name ODEX = condemned company that make anime fans angry by sending letters Evil or Very Mad

Simple as that, hope that Sing and Go guys know abt this Twisted Evil

ndmmxiaomayi SG

Very good way to earn money, that's the most important issue. You can't force them to buy, tweak your marketing tricks a bit and tada! Money starts rolling in. Laughing

dumbdumb! SG

spread the good word. don’t let odex earn!
