Singapore cracks down on anime piracy

Tis strange to clamp down so hard on the downloaders when the source of most unofficial fansubs are derived from capture of free-to-air broadcasts. It's a...

He is saying that the popularity peak of the particular anime is one year ago.
In directly he saying odex sibei slow la.

As I say, you don't understand the community. While it seems like a totally different issue, they are in fact quite the same. I would say similar, but not identical.

Please enlighten me mayi.

you don't get the picture...i am not saying abt SONY....i am saying abt GAME DEVELOPERS

i am using the same logic reasoning from you also.......tell me for console games who will buy ORIGINAL GAMES in SG?

Ok.... main question is... if the Japanese Companies is against this "piracy"... why they support Odex busting on "illegal downloaders" instead of going after the fan-subbers themselves.

Simple, these fan-subbers are a form of marketing. Without fan-subbers, the studio's anime would be lost in the thousands of animes out there. These fan-subbers can make an anime stand out.

Seriously, if there was no fan-subbers to sub Haruhi, I would never know such anime existed. I would never know about the studio that made it, Kyoto Animation which is responsible for FMP and fumoffu and the famous Lucky Star. And if I have no knowledge about Haruhi, I would never bought the figurines and poker cards and I would never have learnt that crazy dance Razz

BTW, results from a 48hr online survey...

http://survey.darkmirage.com/

a substantial 59.6% of respondents have declared they will NEVER support Odex

81.8% have a "from bad to worse" impression on Odex

and 70.1% have bought anime DVD by first being exposed to fansubs

x2.

Prior to this, frankly speaking, I couldn't give a sh*t about anime.

But as I saw this whole thing develop.... I just started to turned against ODEX.

And Stephen Sing's actions haven't helped at all, what with his incendiary online postings and all. In the end, what people see is 'This guy sues schoolchildren for money, and gloats about it online'.

And no, writing it off as a 'PR disaster' is not the same as an apology.... because saying that 'it was a PR disaster' translates as 'We said things which others didn't want to hear, and we regret that.'

Whatever it is, ODEX will need to read. Obviously, the situation is worse than what they think. Haha. Good luck to you ODEX.

u sure?? u wanna ask ard how many ppl will support odex products now...
i know i wouldn't buy any odex products now... i would rather go for more expensive imports that i have CONFIDENCE that they are of BETTER QUALITY and will be dubbing the whole series .... rather than dubbing half the series and then dropping the rest... leaving those who have bought the earlier episodes in limbo...

"Only 2.2% said "Yes". That is very sad.
On the bright side, Odex can potentially make customers out of another 38.7% of the respondents depending on what actions they choose to take. Hurray!
The other 59.2% may just be suffering from "perception problems", but telling them that doesn't bring in any customers. "

You see the 38.7% potential customers there?

ditzy SG

I also buy original games!!! Because I have no idea and don't wish to brick my psp just in the process to get it to play "freeloaded" psp games. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

The potential 38.7% customers say it depends on what ODEX does next. If ODEX irks them, bye bye to the 38.7% and add it to the 2.2%.

ditzy SG

hanor, if odex really wanna stop something, they should go after the subbers instead. Laughing No subbers, no fansubs, no freeloaders.

ditzy SG

I see the 38.7% hiding behind the anonymity of a computer monitor. Laughing

duotiga83 SG

for me i support some coys like Square-Enix, Namco.....

ditzy SG

If odex can prove these freeloaders d/l fansubs off the net and use them to make a profit, ah now that's something. Laughing

ndmmxiaomayi SG

ditzy, please don't give ideas to ODEX. Laughing

ditzy SG

If odex was so smart, they'll go after the subbers first. Laughing If they're so smart, why the big shots in japan don't arrest the problem first, need to give backing to odex to do the work? To make odex look like the good and hardworking guy? Gimme a break lar.

Father Lim SG

why sad?? after reading all your posts, i still do not understand why do you support ODEX... i can accept arguments that downloads are illegal and wrong...
I can accept arguments that we should support original products... after it's the right thing to do...

BUT what I cannot understand is that after all the things being published by the media, their director being smug that he had sued the pants off some kids, producing low quality products, never finish their products, YOU are still supporting ODEX...

since u were given a letter, was it part of the terms of your settlement that u have to defend ODEX... seriously, you are the only person on thsi forum who still supports what ODEX is doing....

Another question i would like to ask: how many ODEX products have you bought so far??
