Icemoon SG The forbidden city is an intriguing place. Some say there are 9000 rooms inside, but dunno true or not. Come .. if you've been there share your experiences! If not you can share some stories you read about it!
Icemoon SG Let me start. I went there 10 years ago. One thing which caught me by surprise was the size of the suicide well, commonly known as Zhen Fei Jing (named after Concubine Zhen of Emperor Guangxu). The well was super narrow .. wonder how did the eunuch Cui Yu Gui (??) squeeze her down?
MooKu SG Awesome. Especially after watching The Last Emperor, you realize that you're walking in the palace, a place that was once forbidden to commonfolk, a place where the grand (and almost legendary) royalty of China once spent their lives, once sat around, once touched.. and you're doing the same thing as those people who lived hundreds of years ago! It's like, wow, I'm now touching the same spot Qianlong sat. Something that previously appeared to be so out of reach suddenly became a reality right before your eyes. But my dad had to piggyback me because the place was so huge my legs ached from walking. I heard now there's Starbucks in the Forbidden City.
