Why are certificates of private institutes not recognised when govt
emphasises skills upgrading?
The government is encouraging people to upgrade their skills or
studies. With so many private institutions offering diploma and
degree courses, I wonder whether these certificates are recognised
by the private sector, statutory boards and the government.
Currently the place where I work does not recognise the
certificates provided by these private institutions. It only
recognises the certificates issued by the local polytechnics and
universities.
There are people with vast working experience and who upgrade
themselves through these private institutions but their
qualifications are not recognised.
Isn't it a contradiction that while the government encourages
people to take up upgrading courses, these qualifications are not
being recognised.
How would we, who spent time and money in attaining the
certificates from these private institutions, gain confidence? Even
if we do, how would we know which institution's certificate will be
recognised?
