transporting food via MRT

Hello, just got a question please...might be a little silly, but just moved to Singapore and don't want to get into trouble.

So I know no eating food or drinking is allowed on the MRT. However, are you allowed to pick up food from somewhere, (for takeway purposes to eat at home) and then board the MRT ? Like the other day I wanted to get a curry really badly, but also needed to be home to take a delivery of furniture...so didn't know if I'd be allowed to board the MRT with something potentially smelling spicy. So just took cab back.

Yeah will do that next time! just wanted to clarify the rule here. I know in Washington DC for example there's no eating on the metro there, but transporting food was allowed no problem. Which was a slightly strange rule as at rush hour in the evening you'd have everyone taking food home on the metro for dinner and it would smell like an open food market. thanks.
