For the closure I hope SBST will provide its DD as shutters, bendy arent enough..Cuz only LKS, CMT and BGB got crossover switching tracks

any sort of train shuttle has to be JKN-CLE. any others increases the complexity of scheduling and heightens chances of delays since the plans are so precise. what's more, it will be a lot of planning for something that will only last for a weekend or two.

passengers would not bother with the trains if they had to alright and wait for the next train in such a short segment either.

if this was done on a weekend, I believe it will be more beneficial for commuters if a bus bridging service is operated. it is very possible to run buses along the entire length of the line from JKN-CLE and fro. there wont be any jams (except a little while for the traffic light along Upper Jurong Road near Jurong Point) and is less disruptive.

only problem should be the volume of passengers. but any shuttle train service will result in poor frequencies anyway, with the added problem of multiple transfers and further delays if any train fail to keep to schedule.

this is especially when frequencies are poor and with so many people packed into a train, boarding and alighting time will become unpredictable. it is a vicious cycle with trains becoming increasingly off schedule due to the delays.

If it is a JKN - CLE, then u might as well no shuttle train, just run like normal. (Cannot right?)

Trains going to Joo Koon will crossover to the middle platform(NSL) And head towards Marina Bay Instead.

Trains from the NSL terminating at Jurong East goes to the EB platform and another TO will drive it towards Chinese Garden.

Trains going to Joo Koon between Jurong East and Joo Koon would be using the EB platform

Trains going to Pasir Ris between Jurong East and Clementi would be using the WB platform.

Can Work anot?

No. In fact the JEMP does not mod the WB side but EB side and NSL SB side (Along with NSL JUR bound - EB track, which is most likely not in use except morning peak hours).

And there is no EB - Middle platform crossover track due to height issue.

Just a note: If the work had affected the morning peak hour special train service track, then I can say the entire section is heavily haywired. (Coz even if the train park in middle track and proceed forward, they will still meet the mod of EB track, unless the 3 points -- NSL NB - EB crossover, NSL SB, EWL EB side are do it at different timings)

What about the passengers at CCK , YWT , etc?

Ok, 6 trains for EWL sectors and 2 trains (At most 3) in NSL sector

1 train from BGB - BBT (At most 2, 1 on each platform, for quicker to reach BBT Town Centre) and the other 1 from BBT - JUR (Due to NSL SB track is modding, so the shuttle train has to use NB / JUR bound tracks.)

Another suggestion:

JKN - LKS will run per normal, and 2 trains from each platform will ply the service from Lakeside - Jurong East (So to reduce frequency time) and 1 train from JUR WB will ply between CLE - shuttle train JUR. Like that will minimze the impact.

Basically this is what happen back in Japan when track need to be changed due to grade separation project.

- Train service ends earlier than usual. (Commuters are notified of the temporary closure)
- Workers start work on the changing of tracks and switch.
- Intensive testing of system begins after completion of "track changing"
- First train start service later in the morning than usual
- Workers standby on track while first revenue train crosses the track changed
- Monitor region closely for a while before everything return to normal (Train may travel through the region slightly slower than usual)

Should JEMP close JUR only after distance fares,SMRT can send shuttle buses that commuters have to pay for.this way,distance fares allow them to continue their journeys.

note that under the distance fares system, you can only enter and exit the train system once to be counted as transfer. going in a second time will become a new trip.

this should be how things are going to be done, with the late night and and early morning bridged by bus services.

saturday night to sunday morning should be the best time to do this.

No, u failed to understand the issue. The main problem is that they need to change track on JUR EB direction. While it make sense on JKN - CLE, but you have failed to take into account of JUR - CLE where the workers in front are changing tracks.

So my suggestion is, since this is a train issue, so must use train to solve it. And the best way is to have shuttle service, prefably 1 train from CLE WB - JUR WB and 2 trains (1 each on EB & WB) for JUR - LKS and LKS - JKN is run like normal. The PSR - CLE is also unaffected.

NSL side just have MRB - BGB normal and BGB - BBT one train on each platform (Due to high volume of passenger in CCK / Yew Tee / Woodlands) and 1 train in Jurong bound will go from BBT - JUR. (The frequency can be like 6 ~ 8 mins per train)

Base on the videos above, two option out of the many others are open for the JEMP switch out.

ONLY Bus bridging service between affected station (Not really recommended)
- Not very efficient and increased operating cost during the affected time.
- Bus may get stucked in traffic jam, which in turn cause delays.

Reduced train frequency between affected stretch (Recommended)

NSL
- Most train turned around at Bukit Gombak using switch between Bukit Gombak and Bukit Batok
- 1 train to service stretch between Bukit Gombak and Jurong East
- Workers to start switching out tracks on track not in use
- Work must start at Saturday late evening/night and finish by Sunday morning.

EWL
- Closure inevitable due to lack of switches to crossover train between Clementi and Jurong East
- Bus bridging service between Jurong East and Clementi.
- WB train terminate at Clementi, turnaround at the switch near Ulu Pandan Depot
- EB train terminate at JE before turning around
- Only 2~4 train can be allowed to run between Joo Koon and Jurong East, with EB train switching track at the switch near Lakeside and run on WB track.

This is my way of implementation if this were to be carried out. Of course, there are many other factors have to be considered for this switch out as it's not simple but at the same time, it shouldn't take more than 1 night to complete.

There is no crossover in Chinese Garden to do turnaround. And asking the train to proceed in front and crossover to middle track is simply plain dangerous, not to mention the train cannot crossover from JUR middle track to WB (Only WB > NSL NB)

2: If there is only 2 trains ~ 4 trains in JUR - JKN, then the frequency would be at least 15 minutes, so cannot leh.

1. How to do a turnaround for EB trains in JUR?
- EB train will crossover from EB track to WB track using switch near Lakeside between Lakeside and Boon Lay
- Since only one train can only be on the track between Lakeside and Jurong East at any one time, if train travelling WB is late, train travelling EB will wait for the train right before the switch near Lakeside between Lakeside and Boon Lay
- After WB train passed the switch, EB train will switch from EB track to WB track and continue journey towards Jurong East, before turning around.
- Repeat process until train service ends OR track switchout is complete, whichever is earlier.

2. If there is only 2 trains ~ 4 trains in JUR - JKN, then the frequency would be at least 15 minutes, so cannot leh.
- It takes about 4 mins to travel between Lakeside and Jurong East. Including overhead, frequency should be around 10mins per train.
- Do you want train to run at a lower frequency or trains to not run at all?

Trains will use the WB platform to go to Pasir Ris.

Use RM from Chinese Garden to Clementi

At the Clementi crossover , crossover to EB platform and continue towards Pasir Ris.

Trains from Clementi to Jurong East will run in RM mode to ensure workers' safety.

Trains will NOT terminate at Jurong East and immediately proceed to Bukit Batok should a train from Chinese Garden going EB is in front.

Switch to CM and crossover to the middle platform. Proceed straight to Bukit Batok.

I believe SMRT has the bus drivers on weekends. they have no problems meeting chartered services like Airshow and navy open house anyway.

not to forget I would be paying the full train fare twice, since there is no transfer rebate between trains.

but I do see that it could benefit the commuters transferring from NSL at JUR though. but it will mean we are using the less efficient buses for perhaps the heaviest stretch of traffic for such transfers.

sigh. They built so much crossovers ended up for suicide / accident use. Indeed SMRT (Suicide Medium Rapid Transit).

Due to the changeover of the tracks, we will do the following:

EB Platform

Due to the track changeover on the eastern track, we end service at 9.31pm (towards Pasir Ris from Jurong East); and all trains will be DNB until 10.31pm.

For Joo Koon, the last train will end service at 9.19pm to Pasir Ris. For Pasir Ris, the last train will end service at 9.25pm to Joo Koon. Short-working trip from Pasir Ris to Clementi will still continue until 11.23pm. The last train will leave Clementi at 11.47pm for EB track. All other trains will go DNB to UPD.

Replacement bus services will continue to operate, as free shuttle bus from Clementi to Pioneer which leave Clementi at 12.13am (for the westbound service) as last bus; and Pioneer to Clementi which will leave Pioneer at 12.30am (for the eastbound service) as last bus.

NB Track

Due to the track changeover on the northern track, we end service at 9.54pm (towards Marina Bay) and 10.29pm (towards Toa Payoh). The last train will also leave Bukit Batok at 10.23pm going to Jurong East.

All other trains will continue normal service, towards Ang Mo Kio from Bukit Gombak using northbound platform. Southbound platform is for the trains that go to UPD. Therefore, northbound platform at BBT will be closed.

There is no need MRT replacement bus services as trains will go back to UPD from Jurong East.

SB Track

Due to the track changeover on the southern track, we end service at 9.54pm (towards Marina Bay) and 10.29pm (towards Toa Payoh). The last train will also leave Bukit Batok at 10.23pm going to Jurong East.

All other trains will continue normal service, towards Ang Mo Kio from Bukit Gombak. The last train will leave Bukit Gombak at 11.18pm. Therefore all DNB trains will go Jurong East using northbound track.

There is no need MRT replacement bus services as trains will go back to UPD from Jurong East.

I saw some fatal flaws:

1: What is the point of having a Toa Payoh bound train in Jurong East? Why not Marina Bay until 10:29pm.

2: I dont get the NSL at all

WTH? Clementi - Pioneer? Why not Clementi - Lakeside or Boon Lay? How about people going to Joo Koon? (Or from Joo Koon to Clementi etc)
