SINGAPORE: Passengers on board an MRT train were
evacuated on Friday evening at the Kembangan station after smoke
was detected in one of its carriages.
The train was on the East-West line heading towards Jurong.
The incident happened at about 7pm.
A hotline caller told MediaCorp the train was approaching Kembangan

connecting the carriages.
Thirty-three-year-old passenger Sun Zhi Yi, who was just five
metres away from the section, said: "(There was) a lot of smoke and
it smelled like diesel".
Mr Sun said the train was crowded at the time of the
incident.
An announcement was made for passengers to alight at Kembangan
