As part of our security measures, we do not encourage photo taking or video recording within our MRT system without prior permission. Those who are found taking photos and/or videos will be advised against doing so, and those who wish to do so, should inform our station staff.

2 options:

A) Defying their orders as if nothing happens, because your camera and hands is on your body, not theirs. But be warned: Doing so will result the staff pissed off and wont let you off lightly (U noe what I mean)

B) Forget it.

Overstaying just means the amount of time in the paid areas, if u exceed, then you pay the $2 lor. (So dont try taking the entire NSL from CTH / RFP to JUR or you get charged fees.)

-1, security staffs are always known of creating inconvience and being unflexible even in times of urgency. See the stomp on Marina Sands and you will get it.

U will always see him at the up-and-downriding escalator, like a statue like that. So irritating. One day i sure wanna take pic of him.

Shopping Malls usually cannot take photo. The sign that says no phototaking is normally found at the entrance.

Yes; but I believe its mainly commercial reason and not security related. Many shopping centres management and even some shops ban photography probably because they are afraid competitors photograph and copy their design, concepts or even photograph the individual item pricings! For shopping centres, its mainly on design, shopping centres layout, etc that competitors may copy. On the hindsight, they may be afraid people photograph some bad stuffs like building defects, dangerous or safety hazards etc, then lodge complaints or upload on medias which may damage their reputation or get them in trouble with authorities?

I just find it stupid to ban photography at train stations and bus interchanges. At least they should let us approach the station staff to inform them our intentions and then allow us to do so. But they should be empowered to review what contents we have photographed. If the authorities really wanted to play safe, then maybe they should consider banning video filming at most; but not still-photography. At this current security climate, I don't think terrorists will be that stupid enough to come out photograph at these places. And I don't think by banning photography it is going to keep terror attack at bay; many reasons which I already mentioned in my previous posts. It seems like our authorities is still not steady enough to decide which are the real Do's and Don'ts.

For me, I decided I will resume taking pic and vids on 20 June 2010. BUT I will ask a permission using by a "Message" and send to any SMRT staff..
