Does anyone keep photo records of the fare maps over time? (i.e.
those that you see on top of the GTMs with the fare inside circles,
bearing a significantly different design from the one we see in the
trains)
Do you still use this fare map to estimate your fare? Or has its
significance faded over time since the GTM can calculate for
you?
I'm quite interested to find out or know who are the people who
designed the very first fare map and what are their challenges
(e.g. no technology to assist in their drawing? difficulty to
decide where to twist/bend/arch). now with more lines popping up,
how can they fix more lines in and yet still display the
information clearly, or are they going to ditch this entire
thing?
(remember that the NEL became a broken branch on this
map...)
The transit maps used in our MRT wasn't founded by us
Singaporeans..We, like other countries, took our design
from the England railway transit maps, which was first designed by
a Harry Beck..
