I just took 053/054 yesterday night on EWL westbound as
well.
I believe the speakers are not weakened, but that the recordings
are trying to synchronise with the VFD, then end up keep breaking
up.
In fact the system missed out quite a few next station
announcements till Jurong East before it got better.
