what is the benefit of the SMRT circle Line

Circle line won't be complete unless it is indeed a circle.

For me I won't travel to Dhobby Ghaut from Holland Village station.

Neither will I travel to Chinatown from Holland Village via Harbourfront and N-E line.

Neither will I travel to Orchard from Holland Village via Bishan and N-S line.

Neither will I travel to Changi Airport from Holland Village via Paya Lebar and E-W line.

Circle line benefits more to residents residing in the East than residents residing in the West.

For me, at present I walk from Holland Village to Buona Vista station. With CIrcle line, I may still choose to walk to Buona VIsta station.

Circle line benefits those who work and study in and arond One-North, NUS and Science Parks, for me there are already many bus services that connect me to those areas.

I will probably see the true benefits of CIrcle Line only it it connects from Harbourfront to Marina, and when downtown line (interchange at Botanic Garden) is up and running.

I don't anticipate the opening of Holland Village station in 2010.

As the opening of Holland Village station spells the demise of many bus services that ply between Buona VIsta, NUS and Science Parks, SBST 95, 91, 191, 92, 200.

For residents in Buona Vista, public transport may make worse with the opening of Circle LIne Phase 4 and 5 instead.

According to my analysis, it is one of the confrimed benefits. Less crowd and get dispersed.

Right now i think the NS-EW lines are crowded because of their Non connecting nature.

Buses may at least benefit from it by being less crowded

It is not true if less people crowding Buona Vista station, I will be better off. The big crowds spell the needs for more bus services and higher bus frequencies.

Residents in BV relys on SBST 95 to travel to BV station. The opening of Circle line, will see less demand of SBST 95, and that may result in long waiting time and worse the withdrawal of SBST 95.

With less bus services and easier access to One-North, NUS (with Circle LIne) from other parts of Singapore, BV no longer a prime estate, BV is just another old housing estate along any MRT lines.

Eh in case you don't know, the majority of the people using 95 are NUS Students who are studying inside the NUS campus, which is quite a far walk to the new Kent Ridge station.

living in the north, its much easier and faster now if u wanna go to the Northeast. We won't have to go all the way down to Dhoby Ghaut and transfer...can transfer at Bishan straight.

A lot of city planners prefer to emphasise on loop lines. It’s more flexible for commuting too. And since they go down to Esplanade station (which is near City Hall), it should be a very important line in future. (e.g. people in West AMK and Bishan can take it down to central and relieve the North-South line which the ridership is quite monstrous during rush hour)

As for me who stay in the Northeast, I could choose to take it from Serangoon (where I have a direct bus there) to places like Holland V or Buona Vista or Paya Lebar (just to go to Bugis).

I just pray that the Circle Line frequency is not as bad as the NEL.

NEL actually not that bad, NSL, EWL peak hour still can have 5 to 7 minutes.
