Taken on 17th Dec 2005, at the same location, about 8 months after
Japan Railway's worse accident in recent history, the JR
Fukuchiyama Line accident, which claimed 107 lives including the
driver, who had some records of overshoots and delays. The train in
the picture is has the same configuration as the accident train
(4+3), and carries the same color (same series trains repainted to
blue and orange after accident, repaint finished early last
year).
There is a small sign at the extreme left of the picture, with
'300' on it, denoting the turn's radius to be 300 metres, not a
steep turn you would say, but for trains to be running on it at 60
plus km/h, its really a scary thing. The train in the picture is
running less than 60km/h. The previous limit had been 70km/h, 10
more and slightly up on the scare scale...
Accident train's running schedule number have been changed from
5418M to 5818M.
