Freed at last...leg stuck in MRT gap
The anguish is still written all over this girl's face as she is
being wheeled out of Bugis MRT Station, after her left leg got
stuck in the gap between the platform and the train.
STOMPer Lynette sent these photos taken at about 5.10pm yesterday
(Dec 27).
"SCDF team helped girl get out of the accident at Bugis MRT
station. Train service was delayed for around 15 to 20 minutes,"
Lynette said in an email.
STOMP contacted the Singapore Civil Defence Force, which said it
received a call for help at 5.02pm.
"We sent one fire engine, one ambulance and five support
appliances. We arrived in four minutes," a spokesman said.
"A girl's left leg was trapped between the platform and the train.
Civil defence personnel used a hydraulic spreader cutter to widen
the gap between the train and the platform and free her in 10
minutes," the spokesman said.
The girl, a student, suffered bruises and was sent to the Singapore
General Hospital.
The train service between Aljunied and Outram Park stations was
delayed for about 20 minutes before resuming at about 5.15pm.
