Do the maths, when you sit down, you take up more floor area
compared to when you’re standing so less people can go into the
train, not to mention you’ll be fixated and unable to move around
should someone needs to cross by, multiply that by more passengers
and you get the idea. But this reason will not apply if someone can
step on top of the sitting passengers head who sits on the
MRT floor, then nobody should complain
because it’s no longer the floor area issue, the passenger has the
same volume and whether they are standing or sitting. The problem
is we cannot step on the sitting passenger’s head, so any space on
top of them is wasted, not to mention the wider floor area taken
up.
