If you ask me, there is nothing to celebrate SMRT’s mediocre service.

For Sg such a small place and low ridership, it's not easy to operate and maintain such a large subway system. So it's unfair to say that SMRT's service is mediocre.

All in all, we should celebrate it.

Are you kidding me ? If other countries can maintain their train system well, why can't SMRT ? Look at the tube system in London and the MTR in HK. Low ridership? If today no MRT Our roads will be packed with cars and that would speed up GLOBAL WARMING! Serious! And SBS will have a hard time maintaining and there would be around 7,000 plus SBS Buses today if there is no MRT.

But end of the day, public tpt now is an integration of mainly buses, MRT and LRT.

MRT serves the main corridor, so service standard gotta be better

Buses is sort of allowing direct trips or for feeder

The gov'ts in other countries usually subsidize a lot for their subway systems directly or indirectly, but SMRT isn't treated the same. "Limited" fund (comparing to other systems) results in much limited service to be provided.
I'm not discontented with this...

Ridership isn't that high indeed, and I would consider that the major problem
is the capacity of the existing MRT system cannot meet the Sg's development nowadays.
If they can add one more car to each stock, the situation could be different.
And I expect that CCL would be much worse since they only have 3 cars a stock...

It is not SMRT's fault, but the problem of RTS master plan... Embarassed

other countries maintain their trains better? singapore's is one of the cleanest around already. YES i take the peak hour trains all the time. Since when did SMRT have a low ridership problem? They are the ones keeping empty stations like marina bay open and not complaining about it... The trains terminate at Yishun because that is where a large number of people travel up to and they have to move the crowds away from the city asap. just imagine if SMRT sends all their peak hour trains all the way to Jurong... waiting time increases to 4 mins, city stations get overcrowded, people like u start crapping up a different complaint. and if SMRT cant maintain their trains well, their batch of 10 and 11-year old trains wont be in existence any more. if u really dont appreciate the kind of trains we have then get a car and contribute to global warming. Bull your crap !

my fren he went to new york and took their underground train and he was cursing and swearing because it was quite dirty and undermaintained. he said singaporeans shld feel lucky. while i agree that much improvement are needed for SMRT's services, lets not bash up what they have done over the years.
