Anyway, it's quite confusing. Some reports say Maglev trains will be used, while others say Japanese bullet train technology will be adopted. An article also stated that tracks will be elevated.

they should build the dual-track from seremban to jb first, instead of talking about a new bullet train line. dual track is more economical.

But bear in mind, priority is secondary when deciding which project gets the green light first, at least according to DPM Najib. The Rawang-Ipoh and Seremban-JB double-electrified tracks project will be borne by the Federal Government whereas the KL-Singapore bullet train project will be borne completely by the private sector, and in this case YTL Consortium.

For those who don't go to M'sia often, it doesn't make any different, it's good for those who always travel: SG-KL-SG.

High speed train will need to have standard gauge, similar to the KLIA express.

i wonder if its a double track (one up and one down track)?

if so, with a travel time of 90 mins or 1.5hrs, i assume the entire railway line bet KL and Singapore - there's only one train from either direction? - then it is relatively low pax load as compared to the vast rail infrastructure.

and with such high infrastructure costs (considering construction and future maintenance costs) - would cost a bomb? and will railway fares be competitive enough against Express Bus and Airline rivals?

and what happens to the existing KTM railway track bet KL and Spore? for goods trains only?

actually u're right, they could have a single track with a overrun somewhere in the middle. or they could stop at malacca together in their respective platforms before moving off. Laughing

if a bullet train breakdown along the way - gone case already. the entire line will be delayed - probably for hours. and how long does it take for the recovery tow locomotive to reach the faulty bullet train and pull it off the tracks? and can the operators afford to station more recovery teams along the 300++km long route?

It will have dual directions if constructed.
The authorities are still working out to use the existing line or construct new lines.

Other then freight train, the existing KTM track will still have normal/express passanger trains on it. There are still many passangers traveling by trains to the various towns between KL & SG.

Personally I have taken the KTM thrice, one of them got delayed for 4 hours! Shocked

Bullet Train might be a good idea though, but considered the service of the current situation. So what if there is a Bullet Train, we might still end up having delay. And I personally hope that the train will be built by Alstom, it is better and the passenger can stand properly even though it is travelling on high speed. Smile

Get your facts right. Day trains take about 6-7 hours. Only night trains take about 10 hours due to freight and more stations along the route.

It is not suprise that KTM trains get delay because of the single track system. Most of the time they are on time.

Getting the type of train set depends largely on YTL company's project investment.

The system in KLIA Express Siemens' trains are very good.
Hopfully they can apply the same or better system to the proposed KL~SG line.
