Oh dear, why is this question always popping out?
About 45-70km/h in normal operations, slightly faster than a snail if you will. The maximum speed is 80km/h for SMRT, and 90km/h (almost impossible in the present) for NEL.
If you wan to catch the train going 80km/h, you can try Yio Chu Kang-Khatib, might be lucky, train goes 80km/h until the gearbox max out with muffling sound...

if u got the speed limit for NEL from the papers they're inaccurate... the NEL only travels max at 75km/h... i saw its speed limiter on the driver's console...

Hmm, no choice but to agree... Yeah, the info was from wikipedia...
Tokyo Metro (just making comparison), in some curves, can only go up to 40km/h, and once last year there was a derailment causing 5 deaths. I tried the Ginza Line (among many others) and met that curve too, 40km/h, like crawling, 'cos you are looking in front, the Metro trains have the driver's cabin open, as in glass windows...

haha yea true... i wonder how fast CCL trains will travel... their stage1 stns all in walking distance one...

can CCL trains accel/slow down at a faster rate, given its shorter length? i suck at physics Embarassed

wa 40kmh v slow nia... its like slower than LRT la!! Crying or Very sad like that should call it rapid transit liao... given that there will be only 40 trains serving CCL... and train:stn ratio so small like NEL... how to tackle huge crowds?
NSL/EWL/CGL is 106 trains to 51 stns... while CCL is only 40 trains:29 stns... surely no more 1min train service during peak hours... like those in other SMRT lines...

somemore CCL only 3 cars, and it intersects all lines and its set to be the most highly used line!
