a monorail - is a piece of rail where the train is plied on it. ONLY ONE PLANK metal/concrete.

thus, whether it's 2-directional or what, it doesn't matter. as long as the train sits on a single piece of track, it is a monorail. Surprised

A Monorail is a singled-rail train system that runs in a direction only.

The term "MONO" is like the sound system Stereo and Mono. Stereo means 2 sides, in the case for here, 2 tracks. Mono means 1 side, in the case for here, 1 track. Like wen you set the TV to Stereo sound surround, two sides of the speaker is enabled, to Mono sound system, only one side is enabled. In the case for here, a Monorail is a train that runs on only one, one train track only. In the cause for MRT, stereo.

Its simple, the LRT would stop at the JI Checkpoint and all passengers were to alight and have baggage check/ exchange for visitor pass before reboarding the next LRT.

there is really not much ppl working in Jurong Island. only 715 serve there currently, and its frequency is no good, many ppl also have buses or cars to the mainland, so a light rail may not be practical.
due to low density crowd movement is another factor.

even the upcoming joo koon station, may only be maximised during peak hours and trains can even afford to call there every 15 mins or so and the rest turn around at boonlay.

again, there is low movement of ppl in these 2 areas mentioned during off peak hours, and traffic flow is a one directional peak period manner, like the NEL.
