SBS9889U SG I suggest that the government allows both companies to work on a line for a period of time and depend which company shall operate it (the company with the best service quality wins the line). Hence, this positive competition will allow both companies to benefit from one another.
TIB529A SG SBS Transit= More daring(the driverless system) SMRT= Follower(for the upcoming Circle line to be driverless) Hence, both companies shall operate to improve one another.
muziq bus SG Back then when technology wasn't in its present advance state, one wouldnt risk in havin a driverless system.....NEL came later in the picture when the technology was stable so u cannot say that SBSTRANSIT is more daring. Had, Tibs won rights to run NEL, i can bet that they would have used a driverless system as well...
Parka SG One is enough. Of course transparency and accountablility is required. A foreign 3rd party transport committee should be hired to look into our transport system occasionally.
SBS9889U SG Maybe the LONDON Train company as they have wide network? Singaporecould help them in other ways.
CAIX SG Frankly speaking, one rail operator is enough. Singapore is a small country, not like New York.
SBS9818A SG Does New York have more than one rail operator? I only know of Metropolitan Transit Authority which runs all subway lines including others like the Long Island Rail Road.
iveco SG Not too sure about NYC, but some Jap exchange students told me Tokyo has quite a number of rail operators.
SBS9889U SG London is impressive as there is only 1 operator for all the rail(that is the government). Their sv quality isnt bad and it is easy to understand their map. After the bombing, they also have better security.
PhyrePhox SG I don't really see the difference in having 1 or 2 companies. The prices are regulated and there isn't really any competition. Say I live in Hougang, I can't say I prefer SMRT over SBST because there is no way for me ride an SMRT train on the NEL. And if I'm some kind of SMRT hardcore fan, taking a bus to AMK just to take an SMRT train would just be a waste of money and time. (Umm.. Acronym overkill?)
CAIX SG Sorry, it may not be New York, but there are other big city that has more than 1 operator, like Canada, Toronto ,the TTC.
