i spent $500 just sianing charbohs last w'end, and sianing
charbohs is just sianing .. not include cost after sianing like
checkout fees, breakfast.
there's one thing you can do that's one-up over a fixed deposit.
Save up abit more until you secure 2k, and assuming you have a
steady stream of income, continuously buy into a fund/bond after
initial rights. Of course there is a risk involved. Go speak to
your local banker to obtain more information/prospectuses - note:
we know a downturn is coming but we're not sure when it'll hit, so
might be wise to wait till then and see how things go. alot of
these are managed by ibanks and as we've seen, some have gone
belly-up (as far as i'm concerned, bailouts/conversation into
deposit taking institution is the same as a public declaration of
insolvency).
EDIT: redDust beat me to it haha
of course, you can do "chinatown investments", which comprises
the "chinatown forex" and "chinatown gold bullion market". as
you probably know, alot of these uncles/aunties with a bit of
spare cash buy foreign exch./gold in hopes of subsequent
appreciation - imo, gain is minimal unless you're talking at
least 10k (which if you did, you should have a
proper forex trading account) and not worth your bus
fare.
i've yet to see "chinatown oil market", which i think would
involve uncle/aunties buying petrol when prices are low, and then
reselling on a good day - but that of course is illegal.
