The Silver Zone programme will also expand to 35 locations by
2020, it added in its press release.
The 15 Silver Zone locations by the first quarter of 2017

The Silver Zone programme involves the installation of
senior-friendly road safety features in residential areas with high
senior populations, relatively higher accident rates involving
seniors and closer proximity to senior amenities, said LTA. These
features are customised according to the site, and are used to
remind remind motorists to slow down and look out for pedestrians,
as well as urge the elderly to be careful when crossing the
road.
Two Silver Zones have already been launched: One in Bukit Merah
and one in Jurong West, while Silver Zones in Bedok, Lengkok Bahru,
Tampines, Woodlands and Yishun will be completed by the end of
2015, said LTA.
Parliamentary Secretary for Transport and Health Muhammad
Faishal Ibrahim said that the Government has been "very encouraged
by the positive feedback" for the programme.
"I am glad to update that LTA has identified new locations in
areas such as Toa Payoh, Commonwealth and Clementi, and we will
continue to do more to ensure our growing elderly population are
safe when crossing the roads,” he added.
