Improvement Of Local Road System Near Tuas Checkpoint

The Land Transport Authority is pleased to announce the completion of the road widening project along a stretch of the Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim for about 400m before Tuas West Drive from a 3 lane carriageway to a 4-lane carriageway. The widened carriageway will be opened to traffic on Saturday, 25 August 2007 at 10.00am.

The completion of the project will provide extra road capacity to cater for the expected increase in volume of heavy vehicles going to Tuas Checkpoint as well as to facilitate smooth turning movement for localised traffic from Jalan Ahmad Ibrahim to Tuas West Drive.

Relocation Of Fort Road Exit

Commissioning Of Signalised Pedestrian Crossing At Ang Mo Kio Ave 3

The Land Transport Authority will be commissioning a staggered signalised pedestrian crossing along Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 between Ang Mo Kio Hub and Ang Mo Kio Ave 3 Blk 343 on Tuesday, 18 September 2007 at 12pm.

Temporary Lane Closure along Holland Road

To facilitate the Circle Line Stage 4 construction works, lanes along Holland Road will be temporarily closed to traffic from 15 November 2007 from 9pm for an estimated duration of two months.

The temporary lane closure will be carried out in different stages. One lane will be closed while the other two lanes will be opened to traffic during each stage of the works.

The various stages of lane closure are as follows:

> Stage 1 - Slow lane towards Ulu Pandan
> Stage 2 - Centre lane towards Ulu Pandan
> Stage 3 - Fast lane of both bounds
> Stage 4 - Middle lane of city bound
> Stage 5 - Slow lane of city bound

Second Link tolls to go up from Feb 1

SINGAPORE: The tolls for all motorists at Tuas Second Link will be raised by between 10 cents and S$4.40 from 1 February.

Motorcyclists will need to pay 10 cents more than the current toll of 60 cents.

Cars will be tolled S$4.60, while vans and small lorries will be charged S$10.50.

The largest jump is for big lorries, which will have to pay S$21 S$4.40 more than the current S$16.60.

Taxis will be charged S$3.50 and bus drivers will have to fork out S$5.60.

The charges apply to both inbound and outbound traffic.

The Land Transport Authority (LTA) said when it comes to the Second Link and the Causeway, Singapores toll rates are pegged to those set by Malaysia, so the current revision takes into consideration the new rates introduced by Malaysia on 1 January this year.

As for the Causeway, the revisions are smaller and affect only outbound motorists.

There are no changes to the rates for motorcycles, cars and taxis. But those driving vans and small lorries will have to pay 10 cents more at S$1.90.

Bus drivers also need to pay an additional 10 cents at S$1.00. For big lorries, the new rate will be 20 cents more at S$2.60.

Reinstatement of Stadium Boulevard and Stadium Crescent

The reinstated section of Stadium Boulevard from Stadium Walk heading towards Mountbatten road will open to traffic on 6 January 2008 at 5.30am.

In addition, Stadium Crescent between Stadium Walk and Jalan Benaan will also be reinstated to its original one-way, three-lane carriageway. Motorists heading towards Mountbatten Road from Stadium Road via Stadium Crescent will be rerouted to Stadium Boulevard.

The bus stop along Stadium Crescent across the KFC restaurant will be relocated back to its original location along Stadium Boulevard, in front of Kallang Squash Centre. The vehicular entrances and exits of the various sports facilities in the area will not be affected.

Directional signs will be displayed to guide motorists and pedestrians.
