Closure Of Albert Street And Opening Of New Access
Road
Albert Street will be closed from 25 February 2007 and will be
converted into a pedestrian mall.
A new two-way access road joining Short Street and Prinsep Street
will be opened on the same day. The portion of Short Street between
Albert Street and the new access road will be converted to a
two-way road.
The Bras Basah/Bugis district is envisaged as the Arts, Culture,
Learning and Entertainment hub in the city. It is a vibrant
district focused around arts and entertainment where developments
are planned around a pedestrian-oriented environment. This new
pedestrian mall is an extension to the existing Albert Mall and
forms part of the overall pedestrian network in the district.
This portion of Albert Street pedestrian mall is expected to be
opened in June 2007.
