Opening of West Coast
Highway Extension And Upgraded Roads
LTA has just completed a number of projects to improve the road
network from Ayer Rajah Expressway (AYE)/ Keppel Interchange, Telok
Blangah Road, Pasir Panjang Road, West Coast Highway to Jalan
Buroh.
The improvement works were carried out in stages from 1998 and the
completed sections were progressively opened to traffic since 2002.
With the completion of this West Coast Highway Extension (viaduct
at Pasir Panjang Road), LTA completes the road network improvement
projects for Singapore's south-western sector. Overall, the
projects will help to improve the traffic flow along the
south-western corridor, benefiting the residents, businesses and
motorists.
To mark the completion of these road projects, the Land Transport
Authority (LTA) will be organising an opening ceremony cum 2.4 km
Fun Walk on Saturday, 25 March 2006 at 9.15
am. The event is open to the public.
If you would like to participate and be amongst the first to walk
on the West Coast Highway extension (viaduct at Pasir Panjang Road)
before it is opened to traffic, please download the registration

Pre-registration is required for participation in this event and
the closing date for registration is Wednesday, 15 March
2006.
Here are some tips if you are participating in the fun walk:
1) Dress appropriately, preferably in sports attire and sports
shoes.
2) Have a light breakfast before coming. You need the energy for
the walk.
3) Although there will be medics on standby, please ensure that you
are feeling well before coming to the walk.
4) Report early at the pick-up points which you have selected in
your registration form. (Note: Due to inaccessibility of the event
location and for safety reasons, participants are NOT allowed to
drive or walk to the event ground).
5) Goodie bags will be given to registered participants only. Each
participant is entitled to one goodie bag.
6) We seek your co-operation to comply with the organisers'
instructions at the event ground to ensure safety for all.
7) Please note that in the event of rain, the organizers may
postpone or cancel the walk. Please wait for instructions from the
organizers.
