Sunshine wrecking new Wembley
seats
Thousands of seats at the new £800m Wembley Stadium have faded in
the sunshine and turned from red to pink.
The "photochromic degradation" began about six months ago and they
have now been ripped out.
A Wembley Stadium spokesman said the builder, Mulitiplex, has paid
for the replacement of the seats which are said to number fewer
than 10,000.
Last July, the 90,000-seater north London venue replaced 5,000
seats after a problem with the red dye.
A Wembley Stadium spokesman said: "The seats faded in colour and
they have been replaced. The builder has paid for the
replacement.
"No events will be affected by this and the stadium's capacity
remains unaffected."
