Self-ligating braces are supposed to be better in terms of the effect it has on your jaw structure too...

Since you're already paying a few grand, what's $800 more for convenience and speed? Razz

Pain.. no lah. Actually some people find it painful and eat soft foods whenever the braces are tightened (and end up losing a bunch of weight), but some people don't experience much pain and continue eating everything like normal.
