Pop superstar Mariah Carey was presented with diamonds worth
$5.4 million last week by a besotted royal admirer. Carey was
preparing to entertain 20,000 fans at New York City's Madison
Square Garden when the jewels arrived.
Prince Azim, the son of the Sultan Of Brunei, sent the eight-carat
diamond and platinum necklace and matching ring to the singer by
courier.
A representative of Prince Azim told a delighted Carey, "We were
sent by private jet to deliver this gift."
Mariah Carey has been given £3 million of diamonds by the Sultan
of Brunei's son.
The singer received a eight-carat, flawless diamond necklace and
matching ring from Prince Azim just as she was about to go on stage
in New York last Wednesday (23.08.06).
The 24-year-old prince is third in line to the Sultinate and his
father is worth a whopping £25 billion.
His representative told Mariah: "We were sent by private jet to
deliver this gift."
The singer was so delighted to be performing in her hometown that
she splashed out £30,000 on Cristal champagne for friends and
family at the show, which took place in Madison Square
Gardens.
Mariah made sure her 150 guests enjoyed themselves, although she
could only drink wine.
The 36-year-old singer is quoted by Britain's Daily Mirror
newspaper as saying: "Champagne's bad for my voice so I can't have
any on tour. I am sleeping 15 hours a day in a room full of
humidifiers and am on total voice rest between shows - I'm not even
supposed to speak."
Mariah is currently on the US leg of her 'Adventures of Mimi' tour,
but will start filming her new movie and begin work on her new
album at the end of the year.

The prince was not there to present the gift himself, but sent his
representative by private jet to deliver the 8 carat diamond, a
platinum necklace and matching ring.
Lets see if the 24-year-old prince and the 36-year-old singer have
any chance to get together.
Prince Azim is 3rd in line to the throne of Brunei Sultanate. The
current king of Brunei Brunei is Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah, and hes
one of the richest man on earth.
