Bukit Brown Tombs has been neglected since 35 years ago
when it was closed. Furthermore, a large section was cleared to
build infrastructure. Rumours are that the land will be cleared
soon to build houses. Some private houses are already built
directly behind the area.
In this largest cemetery outside of China, forefathers such as Lim
Nee Soon and Gan Eng Seng are buried there, and the tombs are of
great significance. However, many are rusted, in shambles and
covered with overgrown grass. Huge pools of stagnated water are
also there, contributing to mosquito breeding.
There is a rich history behind it! Yet, only a few people go there
everyday, mostly to jog.
