u obviously nvr work in media before.
mass media like films, advertisements etc. all have very short
screen time to pass a message.
even more so for adverts as they are measured in seconds. a 30
second advert will cost several thousands to air.
therefore, as producers, we have to ensure that the required
message is passed to the target audience as effectively as
possible.
as such, stereotypes have to used as there is no time to
build personality and character.
also, they might or might not be targetting males only. but so
what? for all you know their marketing report indicates that they
have not lost much female customers customers but have lost a lot
of male customers recently and so they chose to target the male
segment more? or for any other reason for that matter.
its their business, not yours. what's wrong with you. if every
advert must target every segment equally then there will be no such
thing as a "target market" already.
lastly, by your statements alone, you can see that you're
the one who's sexist and all.
what's wrong with a girl flirting with a guy? must it be a guy
flirting with a girl?
and you claim that the guy's ugly and the girl's pretty. that is
entirely your own sexist view. what if i think the guy is cool and
the girl is ugly?
