Only way for you to get license by January is to join a driving
school. But even then at SSDC the earliest time you can get your
PDL is in mid-August if you enrol now. And considering the fact
that you need to pass your FTT before booking your TP, the earliest
you can get your license is probably around Feb/Mar 08.
For me I enrolled in Jan 07, passed BTT in Feb 07, passed FTT in
Mar 07, got a TP test date in August but managed to find a date in
early July. Now graduated from SSDC already. 
About 6-7 months from enrol to getting your license, provided you
pass everything the first time.
