actually i find the “i want my fresh air” argument not very strong. Even if there’s no ciggy smoke, there’s still all that exhaust and all from cars/buses…why don’t u ask the government to change all the vehicles in SG into hydro-powered ones then? Or you find smokers an “easy target”? The amount of seats allocated to smokers is already pathetic enough, yet some non-smokers want to encroach their space, this i think is very very unfair and selfish. If you ask us why can’t we endure for a few minutes, leave after finishing our meal to smoke, then why do some non-smokers just order a few drinks and sit at the coffeeshop for 2-3 hours? We also like to chill out, it just so happens that we smoke what. It’s not as if we are blowing our cigarette smoke directly into your face. And i personally never light up when there are small children/pregnant women in my vicinity. The government is already on the side of the non-smokers, i hope the public won’t make our lives harder.

Just remember that a food centre is a place mainly for eating and drinking.

If you cannot understand that is the main purpose of a food centre, then i suggest you stop smoking because it clearly shows that smoking is damaging your brain. Laughing

Having a smoking area does not mean smokers have priority to sit in that area hor please....i seriously cannot understand why you all cannot go elsewhere to smoke after eating or drinking. There are many areas where you smoke what. So stop whining and if you wanna continue to whine, i also suggest you stop smoking because it clearly shows that smoking is making you a sissy. Laughing

i'm not a smoker.

but i find that this rule is stupid. it causes so many complains and social problems esp between smoker and non smokers.

also, wind direction is another factor. to think that smoking at one spot is safe to those non-smokers outside the "yellow box".. Rolling Eyes this is crap lor.

It's not like you're a newbie in Singapore or you've a culture shock.
It has happened even before our generation and have actually accept that smokers WILL Smoke after their meals, at Kopitiam and Hawker Centres, until Food Court exist, these habits ceased.

Now that this Yellow box issue was raised. Non smokers seemed to talk as if they've never seen/expected food consumers to smoke after that.
Did you understand the few years back when you're a teenager and see people smoking in these places?
Even though you did not...but did you react strongly against it?

To me, it's simply.
I see Smokers - I shift to non 'cloudy' areas.
I wouldn't want to go and say 'KopiTiam is for Eating and Drinking leh Siao lian eh...' Laughing
I still want to sit at my favourite KT and makan one. Mr. Green

If the yellow box were taken up by non smokers.
Smokers will find other means to smoke also. So somehow, it just worsen the situation given now.

It's good that non smokers stay far from yellow Box area.

seriously, i have nothing against sitting and eating with smokers since i have smoker frens too...and like you said, in the PAST (key word), i will sit thru conversations with my smoker frens and of cos, being a DEMOCRATIC (haha!) bunch, we are ok with it lah...

BUT THATS IN THE PAST!!!! muhaahahahaha

Now whenever we go out as a bunch, my smoker frens just automatically rise and gather as a group outside of the eating place and smoke...they see no problems with that...its just a 10 secs walk to the outside or even lesser...they dun complain so I dun see why should the others whine.....

AND SMOKERS, IT IS JUST TOO BAD THE LAW IS ON OUR SIDE~~~~

who toks about warning the smokers that the place is mainly for eating and drinking when i see them? Like you say, I will just sit at non smoking areas...and in any case, some non smoking tables are like just beside smoking tables....

What I am saying is that...EVERYONE, including NON SMOKERS have the right and priority to sit at any table they want as long they are eating or drinking something. So when smokers come and see that the tables are being taken up, they should not whine but they just have to blame their wrong choice of "anti stress" tool (hoon ki lah).

That's why the Yellow Box are meant for Smokers just like your Smoker friends have gathered as a group and smoke(they create their own Yellow Box)
I see the yellow Box as a way to please both parties. Both non smokers and Smokers.
I don't see the need to completely oust them out of the Sitting premises.

If i know non smokers were to sit at the yellow Box during peak hour. I'll smoke beside them. Because I'm in the yellow box! The Law is for me!!!!
