PVC book wrap roll in USA?

Wandering Thoughts SG

Hi all,

To all of you living in the USA (and especially California), any pointers on where I can buy the clear plastic (PVC) rolls that we commonly used in our Singapore school days to wrap our books?

Back home, these PVC rolls are so easily available in Popular etc -- but for some reason I can't find anything like this here. I've checked Walmart, Target, Office Depot, etc. No luck. I can't believe it. =(

Yes, this is a really minor problem... but it's been irritating me for quite a while! Hopefully someone here can help!

Thanks in advance!

The only clear roll I can think of is sold as a vinyl table cloth. Walmart sells this by the yard. HTHs.

Thanks, I guess that might be worth a try. But it doesn't seem so ideal. Surely there must be at least one shop somewhere in this huge country that sells these simple clear PVC rolls? :( Any ideas, anyone?

If not, I guess I'll just have to stock up at Popular the next time I'm back in S'pore. Seems kinda ridiculous for such an incredibly simple item, though.

staples should have?

over here...they tend to use the fabric book covers. if really can't find...why don't you just improvise. like jetta pointed out....there are those thin PVC sheets that are sold as liners/tablecloths that are exactly like the plastic sheets that you are looking for. or how about using those transparent gift wraps? brown paper? wax paper? baking sheet? plastic drop cloths?

i saw it at staples.

I've encountered the same problem myself, and ended up just bringing over several PVC rolls on my most recent trip to Singapore.

lovegoddes, any idea what the item name/SKU is for the one you saw at Staples? The sales reps at my local Staples couldn't find anything similar, but maybe they just weren't looking in the right place...?

i forgot what item name is it under. but their one is self adhesive. i also saw it at the barnes and noble in school.

Ah, thanks for clarifying. As a matter of fact, I did find quite a few of these adhesive covers, which seem to be quite popular here at public libraries. But personally I prefer non-adhesive sheets similar to what many students use in Singapore. Like the OP, I've had no luck locating such sheets here in the US, though.
