Flooding in your state nowhere near you I hope?
Not yet. Fargo, ND, and the neighbouring city of Moorhead, MN,
are being hit real hard right now by the flooding from the Red
River caused by the snowmelt. The storm system currently moving
across that region is expected to dump an additional 8 to 12 inches
of snow over the next 48 hours or so, exacerbating the flooding
there.
The Red River doesn't empty into the Mississippi River, which
flows right through the Twin Cities. However, we've had a rather
snowy winter, and the melting snow on the plains upriver that
do drain into the Mississippi have raised the water levels
noticeably (though not to flood levels yet).
My house is located about 15 miles from the Mississipi River on
land that is significantly higher than its water level, so it'll
take a flood of semi-biblical proportions before I need to break
out the canoe to go grocery shopping.
