Where I am, it can get a bit lonely at times in the depths of
winter, when the days are short and the cold weather somewhat
inconducive to outdoor activities. Most of my socializing outside
of work in winter is done with friends during the weekends and at
the indoor shooting range.
At other times of the year, however, the longer days and
temperate climate present more opportunities for socialization.
I'll usually take advantage of good weather after work to head to
the outdoor club shooting range, where members are apt to spend
more time yakking and socializing amongst themselves than actually
shooting, or I'll try to get some time up in one of our flying
club's planes, with one or more other members sharing in the hours
and cost.
Even if you're not native to this land, you should have no
problems socializing if you are willing to adapt to and integrate
with the local culture.
