Does a person who emigrated overseas have to renew the exit
permit on a yearly basis until the age of 40? I ask because ns.sg
only allows me to renew my exit permit to the maximum of a year for
PR purposes.
What do the nsmen who emigrated overseas do about this
issue?
That's strange. My exit permits were always valid for three
years up until I stopped requiring them a couple of years back.
It was still a hassle to renew, as I had to snail-mail MINDEF
proof of my overseas employment along with the renewal application
each time. The renewals were always granted on the basis of
overseas employment, though--they never inquired about my then-PR
status.
