As disturbing as it may sound, I actually find my craving for
Hainanese chicken
rice diminishing with time. Should I be worried? 
Well, the pull and push factors for me would include:
Pull factors:
1. Parents. Realistically, though, this will eventually cease to be
a pull factor.
2. Food, though not to as great an extent as in previous
years.
3. Friends--at least those who have not yet emigrated from
Singapore.
Push factors:
1. Better job opportunities/career prospects outside of
Singapore.
2. The year-round hot and humid weather.
3. The escalating cost of living.
4. The constant overcrowding and congestion. 6 million people? No
thanks.
5. The disingenuousness and callousness of the political machinery
in Singapore whose policies seem geared towards self-aggrandizement
and self-enrichment at the expense of the common Singaporean.
6. The overregulation of society and related lack of personal
freedoms and choices.
