the seabass, (barramundi in oz speak, or gim bak lor, ikan
siakap to us, lates calcarifer to boffins) is an esturine species,
it thrives in brackish waters, I've caught them up to 15 pounds in
swamps before, but they can live in totally fresh water too
....
the sea perch belongs to the same family, but is a totally salt
water fish, they also grow much smaller ... the only one I've seen
caught was in the waters off pulau ubin ....
both the coral trout and the grouper are nice to eat ... but I
personally prefer to catch a coral trout, cos they are better
fighters on a line by far ..... hooking a grouper is like winching
in a dead weight ...
