If you work there,the salary should be commensurate with the living costs.

Anyway,work and stay overseas for 1-2 years would be a great experience...

you can try, but then you'll be competing with ang mohs for the same positions, on nearly every reputable university in north america you'll find recruitment ads for english teaching positions for japan, taiwan, korea, and now, china ... and it's extremely popular .... my school even runs a two week certification course for graduating liberal arts students ... Laughing

I have two friends in taiwan and a friend who just headed to japan ... and honestly, who do you think the locals will trust to speak and teach English more ? ... an ang moh or an asian ? ...

okay ... sorry for sounding "rainy" ....

but perhaps you can look at teaching in China or Thailand instead, I have a shanghainese friend who told me that they are paying qualified English teachers US$500 for each 3 hour English lesson at some private rich kid's tuition centers .... Razz

I am confident my command of the English Language is proficient enough,but whether I get selected or not is another issue altogether.

If Japan,I dont mind other countries such as China I just wanna go somewhere and live there for 1-2 years.

but I got to warn you though ... competition's tough ... and they do prefer ang moh speakers ... even CBCs here find it hard to get in ... some just tend to think ang mohs speak better English eh ...

I remember 30th September 2002,I was on my way to buy grocery at Dominions when suddenly this huge and unbelievably frigid gust of wind blew at me.I literally froze on the spot.

Not long after that,it started pouring for 3-4 days and after that,Mr Sunlight was seldom seen liao...all the way till I left...

Those were the memories... Wink

the pay is roughly around 4000yen per hour to teach english in tokyo. but foreigners teaching english in japan are usually looked down upon by other foreigners. because they're usually those who can't make it in their own country, or are just here to screw japanese girls.

if you're intending to get a proper job, it's good to know that the company usually pays for your transport and medical costs, some even pay your rent.

life is good in japan.

I used to give private English lessons there. My students were handed down to me from a friend who left the area. The pay was excellent. Very Happy The one thing that really surprised me was, the Japanese have an excellent grasp of English grammar. *thumbs up*

Singapore still the best in Asia.Singapore Primary one books is enough to give Japanese secondary school students migraine and Primary three books a brain tumor.If anyone disagree come lets discuss......Ive been teaching all levels here in Japan since 1993.To get a job as teacher here you should try to develope a neutral accent,try speaking to any foreigner/SIngaporean and if they cant really tell where you are from then you have passed the test.Throw away your singlish and slow down.....this is the first step to Neutral English.
