Naturally, I am a Maple Leafs fan. Wink

Last night while doing pressing, I watch on TV, the support from the Torontonians, aiyoh, my goose pimples also stand. Opening night. The national anthem touched my soul. Crying or Very sad

But sadly, the Leafs' Captain, Mat Sundin is hurt. This evening, I learnt from the news that he suffered an eye socket fractured. Sad And I thought with Eric Lindros with us, we stand a chance at the cup.

Okay, now, over to you. Any hockey fans? Which team do you support?

coffeeortea SG

i dont watch professional ice hockey.. but i watch my school’s games.. they won state champion last year.. cant wait till this years championships again

littlestream SG

Oh, how come you don't watch NHL? You don't have TSN or the sports network? But local cable will do isn't it?

Oh, you are in Georgia, right? How? Is Tammy making a nuisance?

Fatum SG

well ... to be honest, i don't know what's with ice hockey and Canadians ... i suppose it gets into your blood from the water you drink ... (like how everyone watches football in Singapore ... Laughing )

But they do have interesting fights though ... Twisted Evil ... that's one reason i watch them ... that and the beer and chips that comes with it ... Very Happy

Kismet SG

Edmonton Oilers!
The new season just started. Very Happy

Kismet SG

Read that he's out for 4 to 6 weeks?

Eric Lindros is with the Leafs now?
Hmm, have not really tracked player movements. Very Happy

littlestream SG

Yipppeeee.........another hockey fan!!! Very Happy

Oh, the Oilers. Wink

Were you in Edmonton when Doug Gilmour played for the Oilers? Oh, he was fantastic. I am a great fan of his but he has retired. The last season before the shutout, he was with the Leafs and first game, he got injured and sit out the entire season. Still, I like him alot. Wink

littlestream SG

Yeap, Eric Lindros is with the Leafs. When Sundin was hurt by the puck, I can see that Lindros step in to take charge. He is fabulous. It was unfortunate that the Leafs lost their opening. They should have won but our defence let up. The second goal by the Senator's captain could have been prevented. Sad

Well, looking forward to Saturday nights now. Actually, I've always. Just need to change channels. But winter certainly doesn't feel like winter without hockey, isn't it? Wink

Kismet SG

Erm, I think you are referring to Doug Weight. Don't think Doug Gilmour ever played for the Oilers. Very Happy

Anyways, I think the highlight for me was watching Wayne Gretzy on the ice. He was then with the LA Kings and came to Edmonton to play the Oilers in an NHL game.

I was quite a big fan when players like Cujo, Doug Weight, Jason Arnott were still playing for the Oilers but that was like years back. Very Happy

Kismet SG

Oh yeah.
Hockey Night in Canada. Wink

ben1406 SG

Montreal Canadiens 5 Toronto Maple Leafs 4 !!!

littlestream SG

Embarassed oh.....this IS getting embarrassing! I'm getting my sports trivial all wrong!!!

I did mean Doug Gilmour. If he has never played for Oilers, then I must be referring to Calgary Flames. I never saw his hay days with the Flames though but he came over to the Maple Leafs, I think must be the 92/03 season. Then, I took notice of this small guy like a speedy gonzales.

Not much of a Gretzy fan but I have to give him the respect as he is after all, The Great and a Canadian!!!

Cujo? As in Curtis Joseph? Don't know Doug Weight but remembered this Arnott guy. A fighter, right?

Do you remember/know Tie Domi. He IS fighter.

Anyways, how did the Oilers started? The Leafs lost three in a row. Crying or Very sad

littlestream SG

A...r....g....h...........

I didn't catch this game as I was out but son said it was a lousy lost. The Leafs should have won, as in the opening against Ottawa.

Even last night. I thought with three goals within minutes of each other, the fate is sealed. But Leafs defence is weak man!!!

Oh, I hate shootouts!!! Bummer........the Leafs lost again, last night and again, against Ottawa!!! Sad But then again, Dominic Hasek is just invincible!!!

littlestream SG

Aiyoh, Mod ah aka Ben1406.......you are fan of NY Rangers ah? Cannot lah. Now you live in TO, must support the Leafs!!!! Evil or Very Mad Laughing

The only think I like about the Rangers was Mark Messier. Does he still plays for the Rangers? With 16 months of lockout, I am lost whose where now.

littlestream SG

Leafs playing the Phillies right now.

Oh crap, Darcy Tucker got cut. Sad

littlestream SG

Yippeee.........the Leafs scored. Okay, I better get out of here and concentrate on the game. I can hear my son clapping in the kitchen. Very Happy

littlestream SG

The Leafs won last night (finally) but looks like I am the only one continuing the tradition.

The other Torontonian aka Ben1406 is MIA. Sad

ben1406 SG

sorry, been busy lately... i missed the last match ! was it gd ?

ben1406 SG

yah ! i was told by someone at a pub to do so. so i'm "sort" of a leaf's fan now. GO LEAFS GO !

littlestream SG

Oh, it's okay. I understand. School comes first. By the way, are you at George Brown?

It was a good game last night. Somehow the Flyers look bigger size to me. Our back up goal tender was good too. Well, hope you will catch more games.

Have fun with schools. Wink
