Here is where I think the problem is - sigh - and don't take this the wrong way. The problem is the short form "Prob" which you now claim to mean as "Probably" where I see that as a short form of "Problem". Here is why I absolute hate short form in write such notes. and my preference to us proper English spelling is why I write what I write. Of course, in retrospect, the sentence: "Problem you think the bible or God's word is stupid" may not sound grammatically correct - but hey, lots of people write with broken English here. I really really like to encourage people to write properly (even in SMS). There are proper short forms and then there are the others. In order not to be misunderstood, it is important to spell out, at least, the important/key words.

What're u implying yourself? That HH doesnt understand bcos he stupid one or he not stupid one? You absolutely hate stupidity, so do u hate me if i sounded stupid or for that matter whoever that replies to u? Well, u very well know your own problems so why rake up other ppl's problems to justfify your own probs?

I said I hate stupidity, I did not say I hate you. Stupidity comes in the form of not clarify even when asked many times. Stupidity comes in the form an illogical mindset. My point here is exactly this - this is a Christian forum, it is extremely cliche to just as someone to go read the Bible, as if the brother/sister concern is not aware of that. No need to go that way. In practical terms - read what? I can quote (or misquote) any verse to justify my argument - this something that I will not want to do.

Ok. I get u, so u dont hate me. Actually i also hate stupidity. That's why always learning to my best ability. Not everyone has a good brain. Some ppl r gifted by God with higher IQ. So they can reason better. I already admitted that i dont have such good IQ & reasoning power. Must i repeat?

I don't believe the Bible is to be misused in this way - to push personal emotions and personal inclinations. If we (Christians) are going to debate on theology, I will quote the Bible. We are not talking about theology here. To misquote or misuse the Bible is tantamount to using the Lord's name in vain. I am too afraid to do that. This happens to be my personal stand on the use of Scripture. I do not impose this view on you or other Christians.

I believe it can be done. I believe that boundaries can be drawn. Otherwise, if the discretion lies with the mod, then we can all accuse the mod (not necessarily you) as being bias. No different from the out-of-bounds marker in parliament, or even the out-of-bounds markers in the Toastmaster's Club. But since it is your forum, it's your decision. All I am saying is - if you leave it as undefined - and not even attempting to define - you have too many grey areas. Take this as a gentle comment.

Well, my definition - smart can mean intellect on the positive side, on the negative side it would mean smart-alec.
Stupid, as you had previous said, can mean lacking of intellect, but it also can mean lacking in common sense. Lacking in intellect is a correctable condition, lacking in common sense, in most cases, is inborn. Kinda of like "buay tze tong"
When I said "smart people doing stupid things" I mean intelligent people who has no common sense or no regards with the surroundings. A good example may be a person with who has studied a lot but drives around disregarding the safety of others and crashing.

I am aware that your area of interest is eschatology, interestingly, it was one of my areas too (sometime in the past, I am into cults and urban legends nowadays). My point really is, it takes more than just having an interest in becoming a mod (again no offence intended). If it's of any comfort, I had also previous commented to another mod on how uneasy with him. Fortunately, I was wrong in that instance and he is a great mod.

I did NOT call you dumb, I said the rules were dumb. You need to separate the issues and don't mix the person and the article together. It's dangerous for you and the contributors as well.
On being specific, it's in my training - my line of work, we are trained to be very very specific in our objectives, the objectives also has to be measurable and attainable. To me, your rules are not measurable and in some cases extremely vague. As an afterthought I should not have used the word dumb - that I apologise too.

Boundaries help to determine how far and how much people can go. Otherwise the rules are useless and powerless. By having boundaries, I don't think it will be seen as ironfisted, I'd use the word FIRM. On the other hand, to state that something like "I will close threads when I see fit" shows that your decision is base on you state of mind at that point of time, or at your descretion. At the end of the day, you own the forum. The thing about consensus - it is a herd instinct thing. It is not an indicator that something is right or not. It only shows what is popular and what is not.
