The School Health Services in Singapore also provide health
checkups for children in primary and secondary schools. For
polytechnics, I don't think they provide. For JC, I am not sure
because I have never been to a JC.
The common ones are height/weight and eyes. Only children at ages
6-7 and 11-12 are offered hearing checks. Similarly, only children
at ages 6-7 and 11-12 are offered vaccination. The only exception
is for 15 years olds. Those who have not had Hepatitis B
vaccination, family who are carriers of Hepatitis B and those who
have taken the vaccination at a young age and it has worn off will
be given the vaccination.
Depending on the child's medical history, he/she may have to go for
additional checkups at Outram Park or by the doctors who come to
their school. Usually heart murmur screening is not done unless the
child has a history of it. It is done by doctors from School Health
Services. If serious conditions are detected, these kids are
usually send to the respective specialists. For example,
diabetes.
