I don't think it was a colony. The British invaded Ireland, and were eventually pushed back, so the British now have Northern Ireland, and the rest of the irish island is the Republic of Ireland. So, the irish are still fighting to get back their land..

Yes the British invaded Ireland AND made it into their colony. The current Northern Ireland conflict is the result of the ancien regime of England introducing Protestant English settlers into Catholic Ireland.
