No la..i doubt so..torsion beam set-up is not a independent
suspension set-up..the reason why independent suspension set-up
like multi-link set-up is favoured over non-independent suspension
set-up is because independent suspension can maintain more contact
between the tyres and road..But of course, independent suspension
system more expensive..
That's why the Golf GTi uses the multi-link set-up at the rear,
when there's more contact between road and tyres, the car has more
grip and is more stable..the torsion beam is a cheap suspension
system and is not as good as a independent suspension system at
maintaining contact between tyres and road..so less stable..
I think Honda use torsion beam on Type-R is partially to save
costs..but to put it in a nice way, Honda claims that their torsion
beam is sophisticated enough to feel like a independent suspension
system..
