There's a fithy rich man who lives alone in a Mansion, except
for his only butler. the man sits in bed all day and his butler
waits on him when he needs the man needs something. the man, though
blind, however, has exceptional listening skills. He could hear a
pin drop 5 rooms away. one day, the man calls his butler into his
room and soon find themselves in a heated discussion. By the end of
the discussion, the butler had said "well then sir, i shall make a
bet with you. i will bet you that i could sneak into this very room
tonight, poor you a glass of ginger ale, and leave without you
hearing a single thing"
"very well then, go get a glass, and be sure to put ice into it!"
So the butler left the room, went to the kitchen, took out a glass
and a tray of ice cubes and placed 3 ice cubes into the glass then
headed back to his master's room. He walked over to the bed and
handed the man the glass. the man shook the glass, nothing inside
but 3 ice cubes. "butler, now, open the safe next to my bed and put
this glass inside" and the butler did just that, closing the safe
and turning the lock. he then left the room.
that night, the man sat up in bed, listening to every sound. he
heard the wind outside and every hoot the owl made. he heard a
mouse run across the floor and he even heard his butler snoring
several rooms away. The man sat and listened all night long, never
going to sleep.
the next morning, he heard his butler enter the room. "butler, it
seems you have lost the bet. i have been up all night and you've
failed to get my ginger ale"
"i wouldn't say that so soon sir" said the butler, opening the safe
and giding his master's hand to the glass. the man picked it up. it
was heavy, filled with something. the man sniffed, it surely smelt
like ginger ale. he tasted it and, sure enough, it was ginger ale.
"my lord butler, you've done it!"
How'd the butler pour the ginger ale?
