Hi

Can anyone advise me on who the best coach is in S'pore for Muay Thai? I prefer coaches who were fighters in tournaments themselves and were good at what they did, and is able to pass on their skills to their students.

I also like coaches who don't have bloated egos and attitudes and are nice secure people.

Lastly, the fee price is also important, don't want too expensive.

Any recommendations?

A friend told me that there was BXG, Darren de silva's place and a guy named Alvin Seet who was competing in the professional circuit in Thailand.

I'm leaning more towards Mr. Seet, anyone know anything about him? How's his personality, attitude and teaching skills?

Thanks!

well if you are looking for a good competitive muay thai coach try darren da silva. his guys have won boxing, muay thai and san shuo competitions. he even trained a lady that had knee surgery and is 42 years old to fight. AND SHE WON.

he also trains a competition team but i think you need to be invited to join the team.

his muay thai is really unique as he teach the art of "fighting muay thai" not "traditional muay thai".

he is really great with no ego and he's cool. (he don't even address his as ajarn (master) in class as he says i'm not a master coz i'm constantly learning new things.)

i used to train with him untill my motorcycle accident when i badly injured my wrist. Hope to be back soon.

if you need his number let me know.

Hi
May I know what's the difference between traditional and fighting Muay Thai? Thanks.

I second kumuraguy. Darren is a great coach but more importantly, a great friend.

As for "fighting" vs "traditional", I think what he means is that Darren has modified traditional ring muay thai from Thailand by including boxing footwork and hands into it, etc.

Conversely, there's also "Muay Boran" which is the REALLY traditional muay thai which has forms and stuff - resembles chinese kung fu/karate.
